The challenge
Andy wanted to acquire a joinery, but faced a complex financing question: how do you complete an acquisition with limited personal capital, without the deal falling through on the bank application?
The Buttonwood approach
Buttonwood started with an independent valuation of the business. Based on this, an acquisition structure was developed that matched Andy’s financial situation and wishes. A crucial element was the negotiation of a vendor loan with the seller, which kept the personal contribution manageable. That structure then made the bank file strong and realistic, and Buttonwood also guided the conversations with the bank.
The result
The acquisition was completed successfully. Thanks to the combined approach — valuation, structuring, vendor loan and bank mediation — Andy was able to take the step he had envisioned, without running into unexpected obstacles. The personal touch of discussing everything over a portion of fries after working hours made the whole experience particularly enjoyable.
Without Buttonwood, this acquisition would never have happened. They developed an acquisition structure that was feasible for me, with a vendor loan they negotiated themselves and a bank file that ran much more smoothly as a result. But what I remember most is the personal approach and the day-to-day support throughout the entire process.
